Am I crazy thinking love can conquer all or does age really matter? To say “he is X number of years older than you and that is too much older” is an oversimplification of a complex situation.
Even a very immature 28-year-old man has had life experiences that your average high-schooler can’t even begin to fathom.
It is this vast difference in life experience rather than the age gap that makes this sort of relationship so questionable.
When this question comes up in conversation, someone inevitably cites the “half your age plus seven” rule.
This rules states that by dividing your own age by two and then adding seven you can find the age boundary: Take your age, subtract 7, and double it.
Large age differences can be overcome if people are at similar places in their lives.
